The Sculpfun supplied board has had issues since new including inadequate cooling leading to stopped jobs, intermittent power connector (the supplied power supply plug is undersized), intermittent power switch, and intermittent USB connector.
I am in the process of replacing it with a Makerbase MKS DLC 32 motherboard. For the most part the replacement is fairly straight forward but I do have a few questions.
There is some online indication that the Sculpfun board and laser operate at 12V. The Sculpfun supplied power supply clearly says it’s 24V. Does this mean that the laser head (20W) is also 24V?
Where should the Sculpfun air assist be connected? The Sculpfun board has a separate ‘air assist’ connector. There doesn’t appear to be an equivalent on the DLC 32.
I bought TMC 2209 drivers. These support up to 64 steps. What ‘steps’ does the Sculpfun board use? Can they be increased? Does the configuration need to be altered?
Thanks for any help.
