Quick question: is 3.9mm ID teflon tube bad choice for a 3mm filament bowden

Quick question: is 3.9mm ID teflon tube bad choice for a 3mm filament bowden extruder?.

Yes. Get 1/8" ID tube, that’s 3.175mm.

Thanks, too bad mine is 3.9 since it was free!.

That’s still good for a filament feed tube. On a non-bowden extruder, put the filament through it before feeding it into the extruder, and tie the other end down near your spool, It will prevent the tension on the filament coming off the spool from transmitting force to your toolhead, making your layers inconsistent.

thats a great idea, i was getting worried about the spool tension!

Yep, we are having good results with 3mm ID. I think the larger may be inconsistent since it starts allowing for the compressed filament to shift around too much. We had pretty good results with 2.5mm ID, but if it stretched at all, it created a lot of friction.

Thanks @Jonathan_Buford and @Whosa_whatsis !

Nicolas, try that tube. you only have to give more retraction on the configuration
