Quick question … Anybody have any luck doing aluminum with a down cut single flute endmill?

I can comment on the theory - ideally you want an upcut with 2 flutes for the end mill. Carbide is good. Down cut is mostly used for plastics. Read: http://blog.cnccookbook.com/2012/04/06/cnc-router-cutters-types-and-how-to-use-them/

Agreed, but prefer a single flute. Allows you to be in the better torque curve of the 400w.

Well I guess I am going to have to find another use for the 50 or more onsrud single flute down cut endmills that were given to me

Try at your own risk but be aware that it could start a fire.

I have some ekstrom Carlson single flute upcuts I will just have to wait for my 1/4 collet to arrive to use them was hoping to play around a bit tonight
