Question! Using an IR digital thermometer, what are acceptable temperatures of the stepper driver transistors?

You should not see cases at over 125C, because that indicates the silicon itself is even hotter, and silicon over 150C isn’t going to last long at all.

Thanks John. Have been measuring 185 f., probably good shape. This is without a fan and pots set at 9pm.

Thermal failure rises as an exponent of heat, so if you can stick more heat sink on there, do it.
