PS_ON is a wonderful thing. My printers are 2 floors down. I can now switch them 80/off remotely with a M80/M81 as long as the USB is plugged in, which it always is. Just took an SSR and quick wiring job. So much simpler than running down 2 flights of stairs to pull the plug, yes I’m lazy…
Got a diagram/schematic?
@Keith_Applegarth - nope, pretty damn simple though. SSR 25DA - Live wire gets cut and put into the AC side, DC side - PS_ON pin to negative and positive to VCC. It didn’t work the other way On the RAMPS I used a 3 pin Dupont with a the middle wire pulled out, so it skips the 5v pin.
@Mark_Rehorst - has worked fine for ages on my 5.
Suppose it depends on the OS. I run Linux exclusively, whether it be on a Desktop, Laptop or RasPi. RasPi’s need to be powered correctly to stop glitches, but other than that the kernel USB drivers work perfectly. Anything over 10 hours I’ll run on SD, but I don’t necessarily feel in control of the printer if it is for some strange reason.
