Preparation for CNC milling with Stepcraft und grbl:

Yesterday I did all the tasks with Estlcam. It finally worked but compared with LW4 it was quite a hassle (I don’t read manuals!).

So doing the same job with LW4 was pretty easy. Good job guys!

Three questions remain:
#1) What is “Margin” under “Mill Pocket” for?
#2) If I want to mill the rough shape first and then do a fine cut (eg. 0.3mm), do I have to split it into two operations? Are there other possibilities?
#3) Will there be an option for generating bridges to the object outline (fixation)?

Thank you in advance

Edit: #1 is solved

@enhydra number 3) I think you are looking for tabs. Those are the end of cutting operations. You need to bring them in from you graphic or design software. Look under @Todd_Fleming profile you’ll find a video a couple of months ago .

#2 yes, use multiple operations. That’s the way

@Jorge_Robles Therefore is the “Margin” right?

Margin I think is a parameter to get the sweep offset inside the outer contour

Inside or outside ( depending if it’s +/- )

Yes you could use the margin parameter to set a offset roughing pass and then follow up with a mill cut operation to do a finish pass directly on your vector.
