Power question…

Ok, I have unlimited access to 12V, however, on some installations, not a lot room…

So, in reading the specs on the uno, A’s three mini and a few others, it appears the VIN can go up to 16-20V…

Has anyone tried this? I’m thinking about running 12V in and driving some small projects of the 5V pin.

Thoughts?
Suggestions?

And yes, I would normally use a nice enclosure, with a nice step down from 115/230, I’m trying to get around both the cost and space requirements for this.

I wouldn’t do it if I was you as the on board voltage regulator will run hot. Have a look on ebay for a external 12v step down board or voltage regulator.

Hehe… Yeah, it’s got a temp, I clocked it at 140°, not enough to cook an egg, but I don’t think it’s healthy.

I second using an UBEC/SBEC perfect for the job

I recently used these for some wearable panels. 10 for 10 bucks off eBay. But you have to wait an eBay lenght of time to get them. And two of the ten were faulty. :slight_smile: Other than that, they worked great!
