Steer clear of this one. It’s an acetone smoothing chamber that they claim works on both ABS and PLA, but there’s no mention of an alternative solvent for PLA. I also have a general mistrust for anything that looks this much like a consumer electronics product that produces flammable vapors, which is not mentioned anywhere on the page.

No, acetone on PLA discolors it badly almost immediately, and flat out melts it rather than gently smoothing it. THF is used for PLA vapor smoothing.

I believe the Stratasys one uses dichloromethane which seems to be a lot safer than acetone. This Kickstarter is scary. I had assumed it was US based and was wondering how the hell anyone in the US would get away with selling that. Then I saw that it’s made in Taiwan which explained everything.
The size is nice, but not nice enough to pay $375 more than a Presto steamer from Walmart.
