Designed one new bearing. Found to be good. Can be found at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1742627

How is it better than just a plain wheel turning on a central shaft, like a bushing? The smaller the diameter of the sliding contact area, the better a rotary sliding bearing performs.

Personally, I use “real” ball bearings; they’re dirt cheap to buy online and will work better than anything 3D printed and, of course, you can print a surround/mount for them.

Depends on scale, I guess. If he’s printing this out for a 50mm shaft, plastic may be cheaper.

@Ryan_Carlyle hmmm… Agree with you. Might be over kill. Actually I am trying to embed it into gears for stacking them. If I don’t use bearing, need to be cautious when tightning the overall cover. If I use bearing, gives bit flexibility, I hope. Now with this can try to merge outer shell with gear. After seeing your comment, thinking of removing center piece and make it into two piece so that it is bit less complex.
