I have a new hand trim router. It is about 2.75 inches in diameter. I got it for just $48. The store tried claiming it was in the wrong spot and that the price was $100 but I gave it to me for the $45 when I refused to back down. I want to mount it on a shapeoko2 cnc machine. It looks like my dremel mount will be too small. Does anyone have any advice for me?

I have found some STL files for 3D printing mounts. I do not know if the diameter of the bosch colt is the same as the makita or the dewalt trim router that people like. I wonder if the original mounting strips will work for mounting this until I can make a better mount.

Hope that you’re lucky?

It’s listed at: Shapeoko CNC Router, Rigid, Accurate, Reliable, and Affordable which has at least the STL files you mentioned. Inventables used to sell a mount, and the link from k2cnc may still be good. I wrote up a fairly detailed bit on the design process for a spindle mount at: Shapeoko CNC Router, Rigid, Accurate, Reliable, and Affordable — if the diameter for this matches some other trim router the CAD or mounts for it may work.

It sounds like I will have more fun with clearance against the Z motor and such.

How about take some of that money you denied your local store and buy an actual mount for the Colt? Part # 30329-04 for $35.

@Jim_Fancher I have seens listings on http://openbuilds.com and http://inventables.com and ebay but the pictures just show one. That makes me concerned that I would have to pay $25x2 for a set of two.

@Jim_Fancher I giess you were talking about this? https://www.inventables.com/technologies/bosch-colt-spindle-mount

@WillAdams thanks to something at the very bottom of the page you supplied a link for, I see the Dewalt DWP611 is 2mm smaller (which I assume is diameter and not radius) for the mounting size.
