Look closely…
So I put together some old parts for a PC to run my CNC. Tired of using the old dell laptop. I couldn’t figure out what to do about a monitor, much less where to mount it (plus the keyboard n mouse). Then I thought, #Teamvewer So all I’ve got run to the CNC stand/cabinet is a AC cord, and a soon to be gone Ethernet cord (as soon as I get a wifi card for it. I do have a keyboard n mouse plugged in and inside the cabinet. But no monitor at all. I just remote to it via Teanviewer, pull up #chilipeppr or Gcode sender, and I’m off…

Oh nice thinking. Teamviewer is great.

I’m guessing you don’t get great framerates in the 3D viewer via this setup though. I still like using Raspberry Pi 3 running SPJS and then ChiliPeppr from laptop which I can take out of the room while job is running.

Why not just run spjs on the headless machine and CP on the other?

@jlauer I’ll let you know when I get to the point of taking my eye’s off of the machine, much less leave the room… ;p

This setup wasn’t “the plan”. It came about with me starring at the pile of spare PC parts I had amassed via upgrades etc., and the need for a decent shop PC. I painted up an old 15+ year old case (looks great btw), threw in a G3258 CPU on a MSI Gaming Z87 G45 with a 4GB R9 270X GPU, and broke up the Intel 730 SSD 240/480gb Raid in my main PC. Only had 4gb ram, so I bought 2 more sticks (2 because of sale price).

The “new” PC will of course push everything (CNC, Vinyl cutter, etc.), albeit through long USB extensions. But looking at all the old PC motherboards hanging on my shop wall, and the stack of old PC cases… Plus now having an extra 4gb stick of ram. I threw together a AMD Athlon II 260 on a Asus MB with a old 75gb WD Raptor 10k rpm HD. Even stuck an old R7 HD6770 GPU in the “headless” beast…

I get a kick at times. out of seeing what I can make with what I have laying around… And as always, great thanks for chilipeppr, and especially the surface leveling. Can’t wait to try that out…

Yeah I ran my machine yesterday from in side the house. Was kinda scary but busy looking after my daughter so if I want to get things done that’s a good way to go.

@jlauer 20 to 30 fps…
