Its about time, I hate when people ask me about 3D printed guns, it just shows their ignorance to the technology.
The title implies guns are bad, which is false.
@Jay_Scott_Raymond I disagree, all it is saying is 3D printing is used for everything, not focusing on the lamestream media’s obsession with negative news to make a profit. Guns dont kill people, people with bad judgement kill people.
@Nuker_Bot_NukerBot_3 Then the title should have been “11 Amazing Ways People Are Using 3D Printers For Things Besides Guns”. Given this comes from HuffPo, its likely the good-not-guns juxtaposition is intentional.
@Dharmesh_Patel Guns are machines. Good and bad lies in people, thus your premise is irrational.
Guns are not bad, granted their only purpose is to kill but sometimes you need protection.
@Dharmesh_Patel First, try to stay in context will you? My comment was on the title. The article itself was rather good and didn’t really have a “guns are bad” premise. Second, guns and many other kinds of “deadly machines” are already “readily available”. Law abiding citizens of course should have ready access and the non-law abiding will have access anyway. At the end of the day it comes down to this: this tech exists and it out in the wild. It is improving rapidly and I see no sign of that slowing. Nothing less than a police state level of intrusion into citizens’ private lives can prevent people from using these devices to make whatever they want in the privacy of their own homes, and the success of even police state tactics is pretty questionable. Given these facts, what exactly would you propose? This is called liberty, and it isn’t for the faint of heart.
@Dharmesh_Patel OK you managed to:
A) Miss my point about this technology making control attempts pointless.
B) Put words in my mouth to build a straw man. I never said “everyone should have a gun”, just that law abiding citizens should have the option.
C) Descend into ad- hominems, calling me brainwashed. Of course anyone who disagrees with you simply must be brainwashed and not thinking for themselves right?
As for your “argument” about a law abiding citizen staying that way, I suggest you research the term “prior restraint”.
And finally, “liberty bullshit”? Really? I think you need to study American history.
All that said, I’m done here. I have better things to do than argue with someone who cannot remain civil or even logical. Good day sir.
