ShapeOko CNC build update : the mech assembly seems almost done - I got the Motors this week, but am missing some hardware. The “Local Body Tax” agitation over here means I can’t go buy a few screws from the HW stores for a while.
Meanwhile, I got the controller fully rigged up. Earlier last week, I messed up the Java installation on the Pi, and spent several days getting it back on track. Eventually, I decided to chuck the Java based UniversalGcodeSender since it eats up all the CPU cycles. Instead, I got Grbl-Controller from http://zapmaker.org/projects/grbl-controller-3-0/ and it works great - very fast and spiffy. Also, I got WiFi working on the Raspberry-Pi. Now, all I need to do is hook up the grblshield to the Motors, and fire it all up. Whoot !!
