Notice that Slic3r has been giving you some funky directions on bridges? (and by funky directions, I mean getting them completely wrong?) – There was a commit 3 days ago that should fix at least some instances.

If you’re on Arch Linux, there’s a slic3r-git on the AUR that you can use a builder on that’ll keep you always up-to-date. (yaourt, packer, etc) – Otherwise I believe either the Slic3r.org site or the github site have instructions on running from the github repo.

I literally just had this problem on a print… thanks for providing the answer before I could even look into it!

Yeah! I tried doing a simple whistle a while back and it tried dumping plastic from the round edge to the mouth of the whistle just out into empty space. I had to manually remove some gcode layers to get it to print right. I will try again and see how it works.
