Not sure what I’m doing… This looks bad, but I’m not sure how bad. The hotend is black mostly from fried kapton. I started scraping it off with a knife. The PTFE tubing was sticky when I first pulled it out (lubricant?). Is it normal for it to discolor like this?
The tubing on the taper side does not appear to be rounded anymore. I cannot manually push filament through it.
@Matt_Bordoni the PEEK looks ok I think. The threads to the nozzle are a little crunchy but i think that’s buildup on the nozzle.
I’m not quite sure what lead to this situation. The printer has not had a lot of use. I had to do PID tune to get the printer to 230 because it was overshooting and hitting max temp. Maybe the heater was not making good contact with the nozzle.
It looks us if you have overheated the nozzle. That maybe cause because of the thermistor not making good contact with the hotend. Trying to reduce that KP of your PID controller and also ensure that the thermistor well inside the hotend and secure. Did you get spikes on your readings at some point?
@F_Malpartida_fm , yes I had to PID tune before I could get to 230 without spiking over am temp which I think was set at 240 or 250.
I think I may have out the hotend back together incorrectly. I had to increase tension on the filament because it stopped feeding. I measured he actual feed amount and it was only 50% of what pronterface expected (I have not measured this before, maybe that is normal for my setup. It could be length extruded, not length fed?)
