Not sure if hardware questions are allowed here but I want to do a wifi ws2812 build with minimal space. I’ve seen lots of people post about the ESP8266 in here but have never used any before. My question is can I use this module with the fastled library to drive a few ws2812 and if so do I need any other supporting circuitry? And secondly can i program this with an arduino as ISP using the rst/sck/miso/mosi pins? Sorry if this is a silly question

Forgot the link…

The answer to the first part is yes, and there are notes specific to the ESP8266 on the FastLED wiki on Github.

I actually don’t know if you can use an Arduino as ISP to program the ESP. I’ve always just used a USB TTL Serial adaptor.

Awesome thanks! I have a ttp adapter and can try that too

Use the Wemos D1 mini biards ot Nodemcu boards as they have onbiard usb serial for arduino

There are great project with built in lighting effects with wifi for ESP8266

all in box )
