Not looking good for solidoodle right now… The support site is suspended and they are not accepting orders.

Their blog disappeared, support stopped, and ordering was disabled a couple months or so ago. And it seems like orders placed toward the end of last year haven’t been fulfilled either.

They’ve had their banner mentioning “We’ll be providing more information over the next few days.” for at least the last couple months too.

I have a feeling it’s all over but the bankruptcy filing. Assuming they can afford a lawyer at this point.

With BQ downsizing their german education front, etc – I suspect the hype cycle that allowed a lot of these businesses to hang on has disappeared.

@ThantiK BQ is actually keeping their 3DP department.
I’m actually kinda happy that we’re slowly moving past the hype (as expected) - that’s going to allow 3DP in general to focus on what really makes sense with the technology instead of just being used for everything.

Well put @Thomas_Sanladerer . I think hey are trying to find uses for it that really aren’t necessary. It can’t replace everything.

I suppose it’s a good thing my SD3 died and I am in process of converting it to a more CoreXY build then…sigh.

on the bright side, wal-mart is still selling them online, lol

They’ve been having serious issues for a while. I understand there were layoffs in Dec and the port strike in San Pedro finally pushed them over the edge

Word around the Internet is they used the Kickstarter money for the SD Press to fund the tooling for the IM parts but ran into difficulties that required them to work out the kinks. That reportedly cost them about 6 months to the point where cash flow was decimated and had to layoff staff.

That’s unfortunate. That printer is what got me started 3 years ago.
