Hi everybody. Just joined the forum. I’m an experienced 3D printer and entry level laser engraving guy. I’m looking to make the jump into CNC routing. Having some questions sorting out what’s best for my needs. I’m pretty sure I want a 4040 machine in the $500 range. Specifically trying to understand the difference between the Sainsmart Reno and Pro models. I understand the price difference and the difference in drive mechanisms but other than that trying to wonder which might be best for me. Would like to be able to carve mostly wood and acrylic but occasionally some soft metal. I would expect to upgrade the spindle to something in the 500+ watt range, possibly a router. I’ve heard mixed comments about which of the two models are more rigid and more suitable for harder materials.
Any thoughts on the overall pros and cons I should consider? I know this is a very broad question. Thanks for your help!

Hi @jd_drone ;
I dont think we have anybody regular here who knows about the Sainsmart machines and models. But we certainly do have folks here who know a lot of general router and CNC machine stuff…
Maybe posting some links to the specs (+pictures) of the machines you are considering would help us give you some good observations.
