New to sharing to the community looking forward to sharing more. I found some apps in the Google app store (for android users) that allows for simple mobile creation of 2d pictures that are then rendered into 3D .stl files. The program is called makerdroid. Then I wanted to preview it and had to install a viewer called graphite which worked really well to show a rotatable view of the object. With some setting adjustments it is a great way to start an idea on the go.

I was checking the app store today for 3D scanner apps but i didn’t see anything that looked legit.

there is an iphone app Trimensional that will map real world objects into 3D but they have not yet released it for android.
It does look pretty cool.

this is the vid for Trimensional .

they will apparently email me when they release for android but by then maybe there will be something better.

Thanks John, I will look forward to that as well!

@John_Said “by then maybe there will be something better”
Sounds good! Do you have insights in an upcoming app?

Sadly none, as far as current apps go but in hardware google project tango might bring us handheld 3D scanning capabilities in 7 inch tablet form.

So far tango’s focus seems to be on room mapping more so than objects
