Need some people’s opinions and experience today. I have been printing for just about a year now and love to do so, but the entrepreneur in me always wants to make a little money. I quit fixing I phones a couple months ago and miss having a little “hobby business”.

I really want to print some stuff that I have designed and put it on ebay. The problem is that I want to offer parts in different colors as they are more fashion oriented.

I don’t know if it would pay to buy full kg spools as it would take many orders to run through each, but at the same time I only pay $15 a kg for pla.

Does anyone have some experience with this kind of thing?? What is the best option for buying filament in terms of spool size. I’m just trying to cut costs where I can.

Thanks,
Griffin

make some friends from your city, and buy several colors. or sell the printer, buy 288 spools and sell low cuantities of filament (look at http://www.elfilamento.es, the sell from 100 grams to a full kg). If you havent found someone doing that in USA you will be the first to do it, and will have showers in $$$… or someone else wil read this, and willdo it, so you will buy 100 grams of each color and send me someeee

Buy a few different colours and start with that and go from there as you get orders you’ll see whats popular and go from there, the colours that don’t sell you end up using for test prints, printer parts or cold pulls. You can also look at 3dhubs to promote your printing skills to people in your area.

@Javier_Prieto  and @Michael_Scholtz  thanks!!

I just ordered a sample from Europe and will try it it might pay to grab some sample sizes from @Printrbot just cause they are 250g I believe. I have 4 kg right now so I will see which of those colors sells the best and go from there. Thanks!

Also Colorfabb sells samples :wink:
