If I understand this correctly, you want to cut a brass rod with a laser? If so then you would likely need a high power fiber laser.

I agree with Ned, would just add it’s better if the detail is not less than the material thickness, also don’t forget this will be cutting in excess of 950 C, so this is better suited to professional workshops.
