Metal frame, z-probe, assembled for $400. This is great value. Way to go Printrbot.

My guess is this is built like a tank to withstand huge amounts of abuse. Probably aiming for the educational market.

As they say, nothing exceeds like excess! I like the looks of it so far

Ha! The frame is about 10 or 11 inches tall. It’s hard to see the scale. The size is dictated by a couple of design choices:

Must use existing simple makers kit bars. Period. Yes, a conversion kit will be available for a limited time.

The printrboard must have power, usb and microsd access from right side (not the back)

Only one acme rod and one z motor. For simplicity, low cost and perfect conversion path for makers kit owners

No machined parts, ideally… Only folded metal and minimum amount of injection molded small parts to be done in house. Scalable, cheap and all stuff I can do at pbhq- although I won’t do it all initially… Will take time to ramp up.

Must hide all (most) mechanics for visual appeal, safety and consumer (beginner) appeal.

Must be cute.

Aimed at kids, schools and beginners who want to play. Light hearted name for what some will use for a toy and others to learn about 3d printing. Intended for fun and learning.

That’s my thinking.
