Marlin vs Repetier firmware for use with LCD (Azteeg X3 & ViKi)?
With help from Wired1 I have managed to test both Repetier and Marlin firmware with my Azteeg X3. I have the VikI LCD interface working as well, including the SD Card reader. Right now, I am learning about the controller and LCD; I do not yet have my steppers or end stops configured.
As I explore the menus, it appears that the Repetier firmware – at least what I can see from the ViKi LCD display – exposes more features and settings than the Marlin firmware.
In addition, the documentation suggests that when Repetier is used as both the firmware and host, they enabled some additional features namely faster transfer and error checking.
Since I still need to figure out the pins for the end stops and then get the steppers configured, I wonder if anyone would to share their experience using either Repetier and Marlin as firmware, specifically with an LCD interface like the Panucatt ViKi (or similar).
