We will be opening a Maker Forums store in the near future to help defray the cost of running the forums. It will be carrying all sorts of swag like t-shirts, hats, stickers etc. We will also have some hardware available based on open source projects.

I can understand why you might have delayed or even wanted to avoid this (commercialization–yuck), but I think it will actually be a benefit to this site and its users, if only because t-shirts with the logo (and perhaps a URL or QR code) will help drive interest in this site, and more people means more ideas/sharing/discussion.
