Looking into swapping from Bowden extrusion over to direct drive. The annoyances arent worth the weight savings so far. What direct driver extruders are you guys liking? It would be nice if the body was printable and I didnt have to order one as I have drive rolls and motors, but if its awesome and compatible with an E3D I might consider it.
The EZstruder has been good for me once I kept my stepper drivers from getting hot and melting the plastic. Though I’ve been using it on bowden. I have a friend using it as a direct drive and he like it a lot. Super easy to use with the E3D
I like the look of the bulldog extruder from reprapdiscount. I have two ezstruders. I like them but no tension adjustment can be an issue.

Or
Choose however you want your motors mounted. Both will fit on a wade mount (50mm center to center). On the vert xtruder, I designed a few hotend mounts and it will fit on both extruders.
I like those. At least they will be easy to try.
Maxstruder is bullet proof, so much love for it.
