Looking at this distance sensor Kickstarter… Might be a useful addition, just trying to figure out how it could be tied in…

For something like this https://youtu.be/qZ-oB8156vQ
Yup, but since they can do USB and Bluetooth, it might also be possible to use them with a Pipo or RasPi to add autofocus to a laser… Still trying to get some more details… It’d be great if one could integrate this with LaserWeb eventually!
Two barrels it appears to be a version of something to this effect. https://m.newegg.com/Product/index?itemnumber=9SIAA0C4RE7177&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleMKP-Mobile&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleMKP-Mobile--pla--Accessories±+General-_-9SIAA0C4RE7177&gclid=CjwKEAjwsuK_BRDD9ISR1bawwUwSJACbOiixyaaEBnJpjTTS2by3LVV-X2KHp_EIZDzbftVLdshKpxoCBO7w_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds
Hopefully they had better luck getting the resolution needed for printing than I did.
They claim 25um vs 3mm for the Arduino module… A difference of more than 100 times…
They say they’ll be using standard usb virtual comm port, and providing protocol documentation, so it should be possible (once I get both the FABkit and this little gizmo (hope it makes it’s KS goal!), to add code to LaserWeb to steer an automatic bed (like in the FABkit) to compensate for non-flat objects.
Either semi-realtime auto-focus, or pre-job geometry scanning, so the gcode can be modified in advance or on the fly…
