Limit switch benefits!

What is a benefit of using proximity, optical or inductive Switches as Limit switches instead of Physical.

Physical limit switches are cheap and working perfectly as I know. But why are people still using proximity or switches.

for one, physical switches have physical electrical contacts which have to work and which are mechanical. These often fail from mechanical fatigue. Dust, dirt, liquid, etc can get into the switches and cause failure.

Proximity switches have no moving parts and are generally sealed units.

I had optical limits on my little cnc originally. Doing a job it threw a piece of debris into the optical path and ruined the job…

I replace them with hall effect switches with no more issues.
