Last couple of days I worked on printing code for GcodeSimulator on Android. Today I had the idea to simply use the touch screen input coordinates to live control my reprap. Here is a video of the prototype.

I’m not familiar with any of this stuff (other than extensive use of commercial FDM systems for prototyping etc). From a software POV, could it be used for 3D sketching ?

I see now that it’s a pen, not an extrusion…very cool interaction with the machine!

@Romeo_Graham Yes, the idea behind it was to use the touchscreen input for 3D sketching . I just started with a pen to try out the general movement.

Gosh, with a stylus driven tablet like the the 10.1 note, I can imagine this would be even more accurate and or precise than with the finger? Just curious… Really cool concept! …So once one went to actual extrusion head… the interface would allow you to select the layer you wish to work on, with each layer set to print at a select z height from part/work surface interface and with each layer representing a known layer deposition thickness based on material? Or am I way off?

@Wesley_Wieland_Conte exactly. I tried with extrusion yesterday. See my latest post .
