I’m changing my laser tube and I want to use a better, more user friendly mounting system…seen a lot of variants from Cloudray, etc that offer mounts for tubes 50mm -80mm, but guys have been complaining that there too big for a K40. Can someone give me a name for an adjustable mount that fits correctly inside the tube housing?
I’m going back with the same 50mm tube; I’ve looked around a lot and, as far as I can see, no one makes a drop-in, adjustable mount for the K40 that fits in the original housing. And I don’t want to use the original, crappy mount that offers no vertical or horizontal adjustment. There’s a lot of manufacturers that make 50-80 mm mounts, but they don’t fit. I will probably have to build one on a 3-d printer (which I don’t have).
I’ve definitely seen some designs to be 3d printed, including here. I don’t remember whether there were some that had elevation adjustments. Not having a 3d printer would make it hard to take advantage of such designs anyway…
There are a ton of modifications that you can use with a K40, but it’s inherently designed as a low cost entry to co2 machines. They are lacking adjustments in most areas, such as m2 and the head configuration.
I’d suggest you move on to modifying what will help you use the machine and not spend a bunch of time worrying about a tube mount.
As far as I know, the K40 is a type, it doesn’t mean it’s 40W out… at least I’ve never seen an unmodified K40 that produces that kind of output… You can’t shoehorn something that long (850mm) into the case without major some major work…
A less costly machine, usually has less adjustment controls, as they are much more expensive than a working stock mount …
Good luck with whatever you choose… The people here will chime in and help you all they can if you need help.
And that’s were this is heading. I’m going to use the design from Thingiverse; I have a friend who has a 3d printer and he’s agreed to build me the parts.
More on this as the story develops. Meanwhile, if somebody knows something I don’t, feel free to enlighten me.
