Hi I’m new to laser etching/burning (don’t even know the proper title). I’ve bought a vigo tec VG-L3. There are a few issues I’m having and I hope someone can help me with please. I’m trying to find out the maximum working area. The computer is telling me its only 50mm x 42mm.
Also I don’t know what the best option is between point and line.

The specifications from the manufacturer should list the size of the working area and they should have already setup those values in the firmware installed in the machine. Usually you just create a device description in your GCode sender application( desktop/laptop computer ) and set the same working area and where the machine home position is( origin ) so that you have the same starting position and properly position your design.
