Hi, I have just bought a K40 laser from a hobbyist and although I have the dongle I seem to be missing the software cd. Can anybody help please?
Before trying the proprietary software, consider the substantially better open source options that don’t need a dongle (Meerk40t or K40 Whisperer), or consider trying lightburn if you want something that is commercially supported, since it has a zero-cost trial.
Very few people who experience any of those options go back to the dongle-locked software.
Most people never even use the dongle and I wouldn’t be surprised if the controller board on it hasn’t been replaced for something better. Posting a picture of your controller board inside the right side compartment would be helpful to know what software would work with your K40.
+1 for the K40 Whisperer. It’s all I ever used on my K40. Install Inkscape and just color your vector drawings appropriately. Bam! Done.
And here’s the corresponding link for MeerK40t. Similar workflow where you color your SVG to command the intended operation. Has a wider range of hardware support that includes not only the Lihuiyu controllers that K40 Whisperer supports, but also GRBL (g-code), some fiber lasers, old Moshi board (the original K40s), and more.
