Large wall poster frame + LED channel

Hello, brand new to 3D printing as I was just gifted a Bambu P1S combo AMS pro for Christmas. I am looking to create a modular border/frame for very large wall posters with a channel to put an LED light strip. Specifically, I need to frame several galaxy posters to make them look like starship windows. Either oval, rectangular with rounded corners or circles. I have searched several sources and cannot find a design to purchase or copy. The posters are various sizes with one the size of a mural (6 ft x 10 ft) so looking for an adjustable design. Where do I start?

Thanks,

Sam

Hello Sam

That’s a very nice present, the P1S! You should get excellent prints right out of the box.

Where to start: there are quite a few sites with free or paid ready to print files, such as Thingiverse, Cults etc, but it sounds like you’ve already discovered these. A quick search for LED lights poster frame on Thingiverse gave this LED poster frame by FishSoup25 - Thingiverse and this Modular Picture Frame Kit by Paul020559 - Thingiverse

You may struggle to find a ready to print thing for what you want, because your need is very niche, very bespoke. If that’s the case I would point you to TinkerCad, for you to design your own. TinkerCad is easy & fun to learn and use, and will give you huge scope to get the most from your printer.

An alternative to TinkerCad if you want to keep things on your own system is CaDoodle CAD.

I think you are going to need something custom. lol. 6x10 ft is going to be a large project.

Great opportunity to make something unique and special.

CAD, 3d art modeling software, parametric modeling, AI. You have all sorts of options to get into the mix. Once you have the basics it will open up all sorts of fun.
