Large 3D printer

Hi,

I am looking to see what large 3D printers are out there. Budget friendly around 10-12k maybe 15k

I am looking to print bumpers and fenders so I’m assuming a build area around 2000mm

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Have you checked the RepRap 3D printer models list?

Google Extra Large Format 3D printers. They aren’t cheap.

Wow. I’d almost forgotten about that site. That list is pretty stale.

I’m not sure if there is any 3D printer that big, other than perhaps some industrial metal printers that are waaaaaay more than $10k.

“Any time a problem seems too large, chop it up into smaller problems and solve those.” - me, to my 8yo daughter.

I think that applies here. For that kind of money, you could buy 5-10 good, fast, filament printers–and have a lot of money left over. Then, design your bumper (or whatever) to be printed in multiple pieces that can be assembled into the larger final object. This is what most people do now.

Then, if you need higher strength parts, use the 3d-printed model to make a mold, and then cast the part using whatever you need, such as high strength resin, metal, etc.

My $0.02. Actual value may vary.

Do you need to own it? How many times a month will you use it?

I met the guys at 8503dprinting.com they have a 4x4x8 3D printer. Not sure if it is custom built or not.

They do 3D work for movies and cons.

They have a full size Han Solo in corbomite.

Do you need Storm Trooper armor?
