Soooo frustrated-Not sure if it’s the (Inkscape) 1.4 update but suddenly Whisperer isn’t able to recognize some of my designs. Designs that it cut perfectly well before. I keep getting the error to convert object to paths and I do but it’s still not recognizing it. What else can I do?
It can’t be Inkscape if something you cut or engraved before now won’t cut or engrave since there’s no reason to change the SVG file. But if you are talking about creating the SVG file in Inkscape and now the new SVG exported/saved file won’t work then I would look at a few things.
Colors, make sure you have pure colors and no transparency.
If cutting then make sure your lines are vectors. I do this by checking that the node editor works on the vectors as expected.
Last I would look to see if there’s a new setting for SVG versions when saving or exporting to SVG file format.
@dougl- Maybe you’re right with the SVG file. It was a file that I didn’t alter.
I’ve tried to convert manually but I still get this message. I’ve installed the most recent Inkscape and still I’m getting this.
And you are only selecting each Text object and doing the conversion then selecting the color for the paths? You might also try select all to see if there isn’t a hidden text item somewhere.
That’s not true; K40 Whisperer uses inkscape to render the SVG. When Inkscape 1.0 was released, @Scorch had to release an update to K40 Whisperer to support changes in Inkscape.
@shaij22 you could try temporarily downgrading Inkscape to the version you previously had installed to see if that resolves the problem.
@shaij22
K40 Whisperer has been succesfully tested with Inkscape 1.4.
That message may indicate that K40 Whisperer is finding an outdated Inkscape install, not the 1.4 version.
K40 Whisperer cannot find the Inkscape executable if Inkscape is installed through the Microsoft App Store. Make sure to install Inkscape using a download from https://inkscape.org/
