Need help please. I recently purchased a used K40 unit. Nice ;little package with air assist. Anyway, the person I got it from had never run it. It was inherited and he never messed with it. I have spent considerable time aligning everything and have a single hole burn in all positions. I have downloaded Whisperer and followed instructions for the driver. PC and Laser unit are not communicating. Installer does not see the laser unit. When I plug the cable into the USB, I do not get an audible tone telling me the PXC has a new connection. I have several green lights on the board when I plug in the cable and one solid red one. The very bottom LED is solid red. Any ideas? Is the board bad? Pulling my hair out!
Before you do anything you need to identify which controller board is installed in the machine. If it’s an M2 Nano then software like K40 Whisperer or Meerk40t should communicate with it(Windows machines need driver).
If it’s some other model of controller then you probably need something like LaserWeb, LightBurn, etc.
Post a picture of your machine( outside including front panel area ) and of the controller board.
I will add some pics. I did see that the power was set to 230 and not 115. Don’t know if that would create an issue.
You didn’t say anything about where you live, but if your power is ~115V and the switch was set to 230V, then yes it could cause trouble.
Having that switch set to 115V if you have 208-250V power will cause the power regulator chips inside to blow up loudly and very permanently, whereas having them set to 230V when your power is 110-125V just causes them not to work right, which is why they are often shipped in the safer 230V setting.

OK, that won’t work with K40 Whisperer. If it’s functional, it should work with Meerk40t. The Cohesion3D board is a gcode board, which Meerk40t, LaserWeb, and Kiri:Moto support, but K40 Whisperer does not.
I don’t know what driver the Cohesion3D Mini board uses on Windows; on Linux, I believe it just works without extra drivers.
Thank you very much for the help. I’ll continue with options you suggested and see what happens.
Best,
