Just replaced my Wades extruder gears with freshly printed ABS ones. The originals showing some wear after a busy year. Has anyone have an opinion about making these out of 618 Nylon - pros and cons ?
I’ve never printed with nylon, but as an engineering material, I know that it self lubricates, creeps over time under load, and has a tendency to warp slightly in humidity. I know a buddy brought in some widgets printed in nylon, was incredible layer adhesion
What @Eric_Moy said, my experience of 618 is that it’s even more prone to curling on overhangs than ABS, so herringbone gears might be a challenge anyway.
@Tim_Rastall , i has found that some airflow helps a lot to fight the curling when using nylon.
