Any recommendations for a power supply?

Their web site recommended an ATX power supply for the Prusa i3. It didn’t say just which one. Just add up the draws on the system, motors, electronics, heated bed? . . . and get a bigger one, No?

You’ll want to keep in mind that your draw is going to be all on the 12v rail for an ATX power supply, so you’d need to look specifically at the power ratings of the 12v rail (which is going to be lower than the rated wattage of the power supply itself).

I’m using this one on my i3.

The high amperage input comes from a +4 connector (there is only one on this supply) and the low amperage input comes from one of the molex plugs. The cables are long enough to put the supply about 1 foot away.

It is my first printer too, so I may not be able to diagnose power-related issues, but I have no reason to doubt it.

Good luck!

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I parted out some Dell computers a month or so ago, i’ll check the rating on those PSUs to see if it’ll be enough.
