Just did some solvent smoothing of Ultimachine Polycarbonate with some Dichloromethane as the solvent. I was in a hurry so just went for a quick dunk in the solvent - turned out really really well!
It doesn’t do much for the appearance, polycarbonate parts still look crytalline and cloudy like layered ice, and you can still see the layered structure below the surface. However the surface is glass smooth, really nice.
Also want to try making Polycarbonate-juice (Like ABS-Juice) with this stuff to see if i can get better bed-adhesion.
Dichloromethane also seems quite happy to dissolve PLA, so I will try this as a smoothing agent too at some point.
