Just a shout out to @Brook_Drumm1 and the incredible customer service from Printrbot. When my Printrbot Simple Pro died, Brook had his tech guys send me new electronics for the printer via 2 day air. No charge. I could not ask for better customer service. And a special thanks to Eric at Printrbot who spent a lot of time and effort trying to resolve my issue. Great bunch of guys! They may not be the cheapest, but it is the old saying, you get what you pay for.
Brook has never done me wrong. Love what those guys do at PB
I should mention that I am in Canada and he still did it free of charge.
My metal+ is still chugging along… Printing some Petg for a Venturi air mover… Apparently some guys in a glass foundry swear by them over fan to keep cool to localize the air…
Thanks guys. My currency is engagement, so you guys are easy for me to invest in.
Brook
Me too, my boards keep having some issues, but brook never failed to send a new one within a week! For a company coming out of kickstarter, they sure have great support. Keep up the good work @Brook_Drumm
@Matthew_Del_Rosso I think at the “keep having” part, it’s time to assume something on your end. Printrbot is really lax, but too many people have caused their own issues and blamed it on pb… Just saying what I’ve seen first hand in this community. If someone is, for example, on their third board… It’s time to assume they are the ones at fault.
I agree w @ThantiK , we have ratcheted down on replacements. People do the funnniest stuff. I typically decide on engagement and attitude. It’s amazing how rude people can be.
I thought I was gonna get in a dust fight at Maker Faire Bay Area this year. Guy inherited a hand me down from kick starter and the previous owner fried the board. I said “do you have an order number?” And he bellies up to me, starts cursing and insulting me and my company, demanding a replacement. I was so ticked off, blood pressure shot up. People started to scatter. Finally, I came to my senses after raising my voice and feeling the anger take hold. I talked him off the ledge. But sheesh. And I’ve had enough experience to see that coming… took me by surprise. I didn’t replace his stuff, btw ;). How do you fire a customer when he’s not a customer.
On a lighter note, one of my CS guys sent me a forum thread… it went like this: “I’m thinking of printing in my oven to avoid the need for a heated bed. Will my Printrbot be ok with 110 degrees C?”
Not kidding.
I kind of want him to try. He shouldn’t own a printer. The community responded, well, appropriately.
Anyways, we’ll keep rolling taking it all one case at a time.
Btw, w Printrboards, many get returned after a swap w no issues. Some are easily fixable and we can even fix the tough ones. The only ones that go in the trash bin are when the USB connectors get ripped off and take the pads w them. So the refurbs get cycled through as replacement boards after testing. The older rev D boards (I have a lot of those) may be used in a cheap little Cnc kit or draw bot… no fan, hot ends, heaters, sd card or thermistor needed.
Wow, impromptu story time with Brook! Sorry.
Brook
No offense taken. I don’t think he meant anything by it. Nor did I. Happy printing.
@Matthew_Del_Rosso , didn’t mean anything by it here either – just mentioning something I’ve seen in the past.
You said “my boards keep having some issues”…which points a finger @ printrbot. I was merely defending the statement and stating that printrbot goes above and beyond usually. They’re a great company, and one that others should strive to emulate.
Im sorry, I removed the comment. What I said was extremely rude and obnoxious. I was merely venting from a rather off day. Please accept my appologies @ThantiK , I didnt mean to be a dick
@Matthew_Del_Rosso , we’re all good man! You weren’t being rude or obnoxious, just a misunderstanding is all.
