Just a quick observation. When changing TinyG axis settings using the widget (ie change max velocity/jerk etc.) the motor rotation seems to get stuck in one direction for the first move.
Hence I ALWAYS manually jog a 1mm increment back and forth after an axis setting change. I sometimes crash an axis if i forget to do this and the motor unexpectedly moves the wrong direction. Hope this makes sense? Anyone else experience this?
Just happened to me 2days ago! I wasn’t sure what the issue was so I opened cool term to double check my axis settings, everything looked ok and when I opened chilipeppr again it was working fine. Good to know I just need to jog the motor to correct the issue.
@Alden_Hart sounds like a bug
What state was the motor power in? Was the motor energized (ON) and remained on through this transition? If you can find a way to reproduce this I can take a closer look.
BTW - I have never seen this and I change things all the time - so it must be some condition that I don’t find myself in. Any help with reproducibility is appreciated.
My TinyG is out of action at the moment (stuck in bootloader) but as soon as its back up I can send more info…
Yes mine does too. If I change any parameter at all the motors will always move in the same direction no matter what jog button I press on the first move. No real problem as long as you remember to jog a very small move first. After the first jog they all work as normal.
@Alden_Hart Hi Alden,
In my setup the motors are not powered on. they are set to power when the machine is in motion so none are. It does it no matter when I make a change. First power up, after it runs a job, etc. I have changed the feedrate max and velocity max mostly.
Thanks. What firmware build are you on? Type $fb if you don’t know it.
@Alden_Hart
Alan I am currently running build 20 but was running build 17 with the same issue on both builds, thanks!
