It should be, so long as it is gcode it should be. But depending on the controller you use you might need to postprocess it for compatibility with the controllers supported gcode commands.
These are both applications that require using Linux. Cncjs is designed to be installed on a Linux PC (many of us use a raspberry pi 3 for this) and then accessed from a web browser either on the same machine or over a network. bCNC is I believe Linux only but designed to be used on the machine it is installed on directly.
You are going to have to get comfortable with setting things up. It’s mostly following instructions and installing a few things.
Crap, that’s not good. All I want is a program that I can run on my pc that’s not web based. I don’t have internet in the shop and Wi-Fi is really not an option as I am out in the sticks. Does anyone know what I can do?
They both run without internet but you need internet to install them. I would recommend you read a bit about how to install cncjs on a raspberry pi. https://github.com/cncjs/cncjs/wiki you can do this while someplace with internet. Then in the shop get a simple network switch and plug the pi into that and your workshop PC too. They will then be able to talk to each other. You can then use vcarve on the fully blown PC and just browse to the cncjs page in a browser to control the machine.
@Ben_Delarre thanks. I have internet through my phone. But i don’t think it will be reliable enough to work from. I would get hugesnet but it is very expensive for what i would be using it for.
I got it downloaded. I had trouble last night. My Windows edge would save everything as a text file. Thank go i got that fixed. I’m trying to get everything ready as much as possible before the lot arrives. Thanks everyone.
@Ben_Delarre thanks. I have chrome in my home pc. I just got this laptop to run the cnc and didn’t install it on here. Guess I was giving it a try. But only a few days with edge and i don’t really care for it.
