Is there a way to share/synchronize settings & material databases across multiple desktops?
At my community hackerspace we want people to be able to just hit the URL of the pi running the comm-server and have pre-populated settings for machine configuration and the materials database without having to make the user find a configuration file off the NAS and load it directly.
Ideally we’d want each of them to be able to edit the settings and have those propagate.
tl;dr: Is there a way to use a hosted database next to the comm-server instead of using each chrome instance’s internal LocalStorage?
You can export them by going to settings / tools
I’m aware they can be exported and reimported but I’d prefer them to remain synchronized in a central repository without having to go with a central hosted computer and VNC/Remote Desktop.
@Jorge_Robles maybe being able to select the path will enable to have a central repository? Not sure if version changes could complicated this
http://Lw.machines repo is meant to be, for a kind of machine (usually vendor or with enough userbase, as k40). http://Lw.materials can be bound to machines. As example when you choose emblaser, lw asks for loading profiles related with that machine.
Actually there’s no ondemand download/sync of profiles/materials, they are embedded on binaries.
Comm server serving data files are a good idea. Noted
