In another group I asked this but never got the answer so I will try here. I have followed a few steps for preparing a photo for laser engraving. Anyone familiar with a resource showing steps? Prefearably ones that jive wlel with laser web? Trying the raster feature in LW4 currently, and only the darkest spots are coming through so it looks really odd. Have the image grey scale with 4 colors and using floyd stienburge(?) dithering and yep, at a loss. Last venture I need to learn with the laser (using a k40 by the way smoothiefied with c3d) Any help will be greatly appreciated, if I do not respond right away sorry, about to go to bed defeated, lol…

I use pure grayscale images using a dithered image makes for a rough jittery engrave after you have Smoothiefied your laser

Try this if it doesn’t work for you let me know https://youtu.be/Ow8fMQF0_5o

I have only had to dither small portions of an image once since installing my smoothieboard and running laserweb and it was for a piece of acrylic where I needed to show definition between two very close shades of gray

Thank you Alex I will try this out later tonight.
