I’m wondering what kind of lasers people are using, and what they’re cutting. I’m looking at a few solid state lasers, and wondering how useful they might actually be.

I’m looking at 1.6W 445nm, 3W 808nm, and 100W 808nm, at the moment. I’m not entirely sure what 808nm will cut, but I figure at 100W, it’ll do a lot.

Will you adopt me and buy me a 100W laser?

We are a big brotherhood so you’ll need to adopt all of us

I have a K40 and a 3.8w 445nm. With the latest I have never tried cutting. It’s a Jtechphotonics.com

Be aware that 808 nm is not an optimal wavelength for cutting. Many materials are transparent at that wavelength, unlike at 10800 nm which is what a CO2 laser operates at.

I have a 5 watt blue laser. I don’t do much cutting with it as it just doesn’t have enough power to cut much more than thin veneer. I do use it a lot to engrave on wood. Acrylic does not do well with a blue laser either. I am thinking about adding a 100 watt CO2 laser to the arsenal in the near future however.
