I'm unable to mount a 1TB USB HD using a powered hub.

I’m unable to mount a 1TB USB HD using a powered hub. I’m running Ubuntu. However, I can mount a 4 GB memory stick using the same hub.
Any help will be very appreciated.

what board are you using?
how is the 1TB drive formatted?
what commands are you using to mount the drive?

hey thanks for replying that quick. So I’m using the BBB, the HD is formatted in fat32. The command I use is:
sudo mount /dev/sda1 /xfolder

lsusb does not show the HD, and fdisk -l does not show the HD either.

Do you get any errors when you run the mount command?

You could try:

  1. unplug the HD
  2. plug in the HD
  3. run ‘dmesg’ and look for information pertaining to the HD

#dmesg does not recognize the drive at all, meaning that nothing happens when I unplug /plug the HD. I’m going to try with a different hub. I’ll let you know.

solved! I was using a bad hub…dah!

I suggest fixing the bad hub with a hammer; a really big hammer.
