I'm trying to print a student's project that is basically a circular disc  11cm

I’m trying to print a student’s project that is basically a circular disc 11cm dia. and 4cm tall (Ultimaker orig). As it’s printing the bottom layer it reaches a point where no filament is being extruded. This is my first print where the bottom layer has so much surface area and it seems as though it is trying to lay down the filament faster than the filament is being fed. In fact when I unhook the feeder, the filament is no longer connected to the nozzle.
I see in Cura where I can adjust various speeds, but I’m not sure which one I need to slow down (assuming that the speed is the problem)

Advice is appreciated.

I have releveled the bed and that seems ok…here is a picture https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzycRmIuYWdJVTFZWGFYd3otaktmS2daVjJQeEwyZ2Z1Q3JN/view?usp=sharing …it starts out fine (right side) but eventually it has issues…could it be something with the feeder?
Thanks

Additionally, if your spring tension is too high you can deform the filament which will prevent it from fitting into the nozzle opening.

Thanks…tightening the tension has made it much better…it’s not perfect, but I don’t think I can tighten the screw any more than I did.
