I would need a small, screwable chuck to hold a cylinder in the center, but I can't find it

Hello,

I’m completely new to the world of making things. I have to do some laser cutting on a cylinder (in a lab, it’s some kind of internship), and for that I have to rotate the cylinder. But the huge problem is that if I just use some clamp with screws, the cylinder won’t be exactly in the center. There are chucks used in CNC, but I can’t find some that are small, and that I can screw in my setup. I have what is needed to make the cylinder spin, but not what’s needed to hold the cylinder in the center. It’s frustrating because I know it’s a basic problem that is easy to solve, but I have spent my whole day trying to find something. Could you help me please?

And which website do you use to find parts to build things? Because Google’s pieces are all over the place and I never know if they are compatible with each others.

Thank you very much and good evening.

Look at some of the units you can buy for engraving on tumblers. They use rollers to rotate the work piece. They might give you ideas if it’ll work or not. Some add rubber bands or ways to increase traction so the work piece doesn’t slip.

You don’t always need a chuck.

Taig tools has some small chucks that are reasonably priced.
