I want to change the BigBox pro to be able to print dual meterial. I want to use HVA that is limone disolvable for support and PVA for the model.
I have been looking at Cyclops and Chimera as extruder and I have one Titan already.
- What retraction is used for a titan with bowden?
- Is the retraction different on Cyclops/Chinemera?
- Is there somone that have done a extruder mount for BigBox pro
Wait why PVA for the model? Then it would dissolve if it gets wet??
I would suggest to not ever get a multi extrusion system with a single nozzle if you want to use PVA, it is really sensitive about temperature degradation, and it will burn in the heater block when not extruding and clog your nozzle. Only use this if you are printing different colors of the same model material or similar stuff.
On the other hand, dual nozzle setups without any kind of active lifting causes you so much trouble with oozing of inactive material, extremely level sensitive etc…
Imho a lifting/tilting nozzle setup is the way to go.
I would not use cyclops because it requires a special nozzle and the heater block is unusual and hard to clean, and the unused material itself stays cooking.
I have a custom Chimera installation and I don’t worry about ooze or anything. I do retract the material in the idled nozzle by 13mm.
@Erik_Cederberg @Jeff_DeMaagd It looks like a Chimera is the way to go…
13mm retraction is alot… any problems with retracting melted filament into the coldside and jam the extruder?
Is the 13mm retraction working on both “all metal” and “teflon sleve” heatbreakers?
@Erik_Cederberg Do you have a suggestion of a nozzle retraction extruder. I have seen one about 2 years ago.
Hasn’t caused me trouble yet. But I didn’t do PLA that way yet either. I think the PTFE jacket helps a lot.
@Jeff_DeMaagd I belive that you are right
