Wow- really cool - I can’t believe it can cnc aluminum- all for $400- nice use of Electrical Metallic Tubing.

I started it this weekend as well… only I’m making a plasma cutter.

I have one and like it. Only used it for printing so far but will use it for cutting eventually

It doesn’t mill aluminum particularly well. You have to cut very slow because it’s not rigid enough to handle high cutting forces, but that in turn work-hardens the aluminum, wears out end mills, leaves bad surface finish, etc. It’s basically a couple steps up from using a cordless drill and hacksaw.

@Ryan_Carlyle ​ it’s had a rework on the Z so it’s actually a lot stiffer. I have a friend who mills small stainless steel parts with it. Yes it’s slow, but it will do it.

Yeah it would be good to see more of the aluminum CNCing work. I have a Chinese 6040 CNC and it really cannot machine aluminum well. Maybe the dual steppers gives it enough strength to machine aluminum.
