I shrunk my gcode file from 646 lines to 531, and optimized the heck out of the remaining lines. I added a tool change and am now roughing the piece with a 1/2" router bit, then finishing the contours with a 1/4" bit. The resultant piece is the same, but should be much easier to actually mill.

Here are some pics of the model produced by CNCSimulator after running the program. The “front” of the case is the back of the work piece so the simulator makes it pretty dark which makes it hard to see. Trust me, I’ll look awesome.

The “wings” on the sides are the keep-out zones where the work piece is held to the table. They’ll be cut off with a miter saw when the piece is done. Then LOTS of sanding, staining, and listening!
